Pronouns: They/Them and She/Her
Casey is a white non-binary queer artist, gardener, cyclist, psychotherapist, and (hopefully) lifelong learner. Through their creative work, they explore themes of nostalgia, trauma, remembrance, religion, queerness, and joy. In their art practice, Casey has explored emotion, identity, and belonging through different materials and mediums, including oil painting, printmaking, cyanotype, comics, and photography.
Casey studied painting and photography in their education journey and has displayed art in traveling shows and community spaces, but what they love most is creating art for others to view that makes spaces feel more alive and makes people feel more curious.
Casey hopes to live into an art practice that challenges violent systems of supremacy and capitalism. As a white able-bodied person, Casey works to unlearn and relearn how to carry privilege, divesting from cultures and structures that gather power in order to oppress and control and investing instead in community, collaboration, and care.
Casey hopes their work can be a small part of using imagination to create a better, more just world.
About Casey
Because I have the privilege to be sustained financially by other work, I want my work to be affordable and accessible to all who want it or would give it a home. I also find it meaningful to explore ways to create my art outside of capitalist systems, and am testing out these methods.
Prints and downloads in my shop are all listed at either $0 or $3, with the option to add a donation at checkout. The $3 covers will cover print shipping, any donation you add there will go to me to cover my labor and pay for my supplies. A donation is appreciated but not expected - it is much more important to me that my work goes into the world and touches people who find it meaningful than it is to turn a profit. However, if you have financial means and want to express your appreciation of my work by giving it monetary value, please do that and name a donation price that fits.
I would also ask you to consider donating to an organization you believe is working for a better world either instead of, or alongside of donating to my studio practice. Orgs I believe in are Chicago Abortion Access, Chicago Community Jail Support,
I also accept trades for other goods or services for my original pieces, and will take commissions of larger scale projects and murals pro-bono for some non-profit causes. If you are interested in these options, please reach out, I am always happy to discuss!
On Accessability
Let’s chat!
I’m always happy to connect about commission projects, a home mural consultation, or other collaborations!
If you find a piece you love that you want to give a happy home, please reach out, I will always be happy to discuss how we can make this happen. I never want money to be a barrier to enjoying my work!
(I may not be quick to respond, however, as my art is not my full-time work and instead a project I engage with when it brings me joy. Thank you for your patience!)
